What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a holistic system of natural health care which uses muscle testing to determine which body systems are out of balance.  Once imbalances are identified the Kinesiologist asks what corrections are needed to restore good health.  Testing can establish connections between imbalances, put them in order of priority and find the most effective treatment.  The treatments offered are drawn from many Therapies, including Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Nutrition, Herbalism, Flower Remedies and Homeopathy to name but a few.

Kinesiology is renowned for being able to uncover and help the underlying causes of health problems that are difficult to find by other means.

Poor diet, stress, infection, chemical toxicity, elimination problems and compromised immune system are increasingly implicated as the "root cause" of many chronic health problems which can seriously undermine our physical and mental state.  Kinesiology can identify precisely a programme of treatments to resolve imbalances.  This is likely to involve a tailor made detox plan, simple dietry changes and nutritional support.

How does Kinesiology Help?

Kinesiology helps balance the whole system, thus assisting the self healing process.

  • it can increase overall energy levels and improve vitality.
  • it can strengthen the immune system thus preventing illness.
  • it can improve posture, relieve physical pain and tension.
  • it can help people release and manage stress and emotions.
  • it can enhance brain function and co-ordination.
  • it can identify individual nutritional needs and sensitivities.

Common ailments that respond well to the treatments used in Kinesiology include candida, digestive disorders, food sensitivity, irritable bowel syndrome, abdominal bloating, migraines, headaches, skin problems, asthma allergies, sinus problems, fatigue, mood swings, PMS, depression, period problems, menopausal symptoms, poor immunity to colds and flu etc., joint and muscular pain, stress related problems, low blood sugar and many, many more.

What happens on the first visit?

On making an appointment you will be asked to fill in a questionnaire about past health history and current problems.  This will be discussed further to provide greater insight into lifestyle etc.  Muscle testing will be explained and demonstrated.  Usually you will be asked to lie down on a couch, remover all jewellry and wear comfortable loose clothing, preferably trousers.

How many treatments will I need?

This will vary enormously depending on the individual.  Structural problems such as backache can improve very quickly whereas other problems can be more stubborn.  The number of treatments required will depend on the length of time the symptoms have been experienced as well as the severity of the symptoms.  Where nutritional supplements are involved, improvement will be more gradual.  In this case monthly treatments would probably be sufficient.  Once symptoms improve clients might decide to come at six monthly intervals to maintain good health (rather like taking a car for an MOT).

It is likely that nutritional supplements will be recommended.  These will involve additional expense, and must be taken to ensure optimum benefit.
